Magnet Programs

Technical

McFatter and Atlantic Technical Magnet High Schools enroll all students in a course of study designed to accomplish three goals. All students will be eligible for college admissions and scholarship applications; all students will have the opportunity to leave high school with some college credits already earned; and all students will earn technical certification in a career area chosen from a wide range of current and emerging occupational fields. Technical career options may include automotive, communications, computer technology, manufacturing, and medical.

The program integrates rigorous academic study with technical training, which addresses major challenges facing industry and the workforce of the 21st Century. Program highlights include the use of state-of-the-art technology throughout all classes and curricular areas, alternative assessment and exhibitions, digital portfolios, block scheduling, and business and industry involvement. Students learn to access, manipulate, and apply information, to think critically, and to solve problems in today’s technological world.
