Broward County Public Schools Recognized by Discovery Education for Important Technological Milestone

Philippe Cousteau, Chief Environmentalist for Discovery Education, helps Broward County School District Superintendent James F. Notter celebrate outstanding achievement with interactive student assemblies at two Marine Science Magnet Schools

WHAT:
Students at Broward County Public Schools South Broward High School and New River Middle School, as well as District administrators and School Board members, meet Discovery Education’s Chief Environmentalist, conservationist and educator Philippe Cousteau when he visits the schools for interactive assemblies on Tuesday, February 2. Cousteau’s appearances are part of a series of events recognizing the District’s outstanding achievement in reaching the milestone of one million digital educational videos viewed.

In addition to the school assemblies, Broward County Public Schools Superintendent James F. Notter will celebrate this achievement when he accepts a certificate commemorating this accomplishment from representatives of Discovery Education during a ceremony at the Broward County School Board meeting. Broward County Public Schools is one of only a handful of school systems in the nation to reach this milestone. Following the award presentation, Superintendent Notter will discuss the District’s strong commitment to engaging today’s students through the effective integration of digital content and educational technologies and District efforts to engage students in education through technology and build a competitive, tech-savvy, 21st Century workforce.
