Fort Lauderdale High School is proud to announce that 16 talented students have won awards from University of Cambridge International Examinations (CIE) in recognition of their outstanding results in the June 2009 examination session.
The Brilliance in USA award program commends students who have excelled in their Cambridge International AS and A Level examinations. The Cambridge examinations are the world’s most popular international qualification, being recognized around the world as proof of academic achievement. Cambridge International A level exams are commensurate with 2nd year college level work and AS level exams are commensurate with 1st year of college work. Of the 16 students commended, three were awarded certificates at the A level.
Additionally, one AS level student, Melvin Washington, has won a Top in USA award for achieving the highest result in the country in the Cambridge International AS Level Environmental Management examination. It is a terrific achievement for Melvin Washington and the teachers at Fort Lauderdale High who helped make his success possible.
The Cambridge magnet program at Fort Lauderdale High is a pre-university program that includes independent research, creativity in problem solving, externally graded written exams, the opportunity to earn a Cambridge Advanced International Certificate of Education (AICE) diploma, and the opportunity to earn college credit.
