Student Spotlight
Air traffic delays and cancellations have impacted thousands of travelers recently, but it’s been a smooth turbulent-free ride for students in the Aviation magnet program at Miramar High School. Students in the Aviation magnet program develop essential skills for post-secondary programs leading to careers in the aviation industry including commercial pilot, FAA certified mechanic, aviation administration and more. Several students have recently propelled to great heights with outstanding accomplishments.
Cadets Christopher Pannier and Andrew Yong won second place in all-state competition for academics at the Florida Civil Air Patrol (CAP) Wing Conference in Orlando. Cadet Akeim Lewis was selected as the #1 Cadet of Encampment for the State of Florida beating out over 200 cadets. Cadet Leo Ricciotti was selected by the United States Coast Guard Academy (USCG) to spend a week at their facility in new London, Connecticut. Leo experienced many USCG skills and hopes to earn an appointment to the Coast Guard Academy when he graduates. Cadet Jahmar Resilard served as this year’s Cadet Commander of CAP students from all over the United States at Columbus Air Force Base in Mississippi.
